Germany and Turkey: Power, Revolution, and Time

In April-June of 2025, I had the opportunity to study in Berlin and Istanbul, taking the weeks after to backpack around Turkey. Below is a mixed media collection of my memories and understandings of these two incredible places — a cinematic view of revolution, power, time, and development through my lens. I found myself obsessed with seagulls and ravens, as they would scavenge through the remains of döner on the side of the street and steal the very desserts off of my table. I found myself intrigued with the hidden secrets of the Berlin alleyways and the hidden messages of the mosques lining the squares in Istanbul. From graffiti to the faces of animals in both cities, these are reflections of my own interpretations of these two historic cities, and their nations that they do (and don’t) represent.
